Jakarta Transport Agency to Review Sea Transport Infrastructure

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Transportation Agency deputy head Sigit Wijatmoko stated he will conduct a comprehensive review of the infrastructure of sea transportation following the exploding boat incident in Dermaga Island, Sunday, April 22.
“This will be a momentum to conduct a thorough examination,” said Sigit in a phone interview with Tempo, Monday, April 23.

Earlier, Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno has instructed the agency to review the service of sea transportation that he deemed as a vital concern since the city government expected Thousand Islands as the high-attractive tourism destination.
The Transportation Agency will not only review the boats, but also the port, crew, and visitors’ habit in the area. Thousand Islands have been accredited as national strategic tourism destination so that it requires the best safety standard, as Sigit noted that safety and security as the foundation of the whole.

As reported earlier, the boat owned by the Transportation Agency of the Seribu Islands, or the Thousand Islands, was exploded in the port in Dermaga Island on Sunday, April 22. The boat was operated to transport the students from Thousand Islands District for free.
