TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is reluctant to inform the results of his meeting with the Chairman of the Democratic Party Susilo "SBY" Bambang Yudhoyono.
"Yesterday, the meeting with SBY was done," said Wiranto after opening the 2018 National Business Meeting of Steel Industry and Construction Services Indonesia at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Wiranto was also reluctant to answer whether the Democratic Party has officially declared a coalition with the government or not.
On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, Wiranto met with SBY at his house. Before the meeting, Wiranto said that the meeting was related to his position as a minister for political affairs.
"I myself as a political minister in this country must communicate with all leaders of political parties, political party figures, practically anyone. Pak SBY is a party chairman," Wiranto said.
PDI-P Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the meeting could serve as a way to unify parties in relation to the future of the government.
Hasto asserted if the Democrat party can join the government, then it has the potential to strengthen President Joko Widodo's administration. Functional Group Party politician Bambang Soesatyo also hoped that the Democrat party can join the government coalition.
