Wabat-Babat Bridge Collapses, 2 People Died

TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The twin bridge that connects Widang, Tuban and Babat sub-districts of Lamongan, East Java, collapsed on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, causing two fatalities.

Head of Public Relations Division of the East Java Police Frans Barung Mangera, confirmed the bridge, which is located along the national road and crosses the Bengawan Solo has collapsed at around 11:00 AM.

"At around 11:00 AM the twin bridges on the west side of Widang Tuban sub-districts suddenly collapsed causing one dump truck, two trailer trucks, and one motorcycle to plunge into the river," Barung said on Tuesday afternoon, April 17, 2018.

The collapse of the Widang-Babat Bridge, which is located not far from the Lagitan Islamic Boarding School had caused traffic congestion.
