TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police are formulating a law that will enable them to charge sellers of bootleg liquor with sentences ranging from a life sentence to death penalty.
“We will punish them under Law No18/2012 with a life sentence,” said National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto today.
He said the law would be used against sellers that intentionally sold bootleg liquor.

To date, the police have arrested seven people related to bootleg liquor comprising distributors, producers, and sellers.
The police said they viewed the suspects as a threat, allowing for the 89 lives claimed by bootleg liquor in West Java and Jakarta.
“We will keep an eye and aim at parties selling illegal liquor,” he said.
