TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named four suspects during the sting operation (OTT) against West Bandung Regent in a graft allegation.

"We have named four suspects,” said KPK deputy chief Saut Sitomorang at his office Wednesday, April 11.

KPK nabbed six West Bandung Regency officials during the operation and four of them were named as suspects.

The six officials are West Bandung Regent Abu Bakar, Head of Regional Industry and Trade Agency Weti Lembanawati, Head of Regional Development Planning Agency Adiyoto, and Head of Regional Employment Agency of West Bandung Regency Asep Hikayat. Abu Bakar, Weti and Adiyoto are suspected as the graft recipient while Asep as the grantor.

Previously, the investigators receive information on a suspicious transaction for the regent’s interest. The KPK investigators found a Rp35 million cash and other evidence valued at Rp400 million.

It is alleged that Abu Bakar asked the money to fund her wife’s candidacy at the West Bandung Regent election for the period of 2018-2023. "The money was used to fund the survey agency," Saut said.

According to the KPK deputy chief, West Bandung Regent Abu Bakar had repeatedly made the request. The anti-graft agency is currently undergoing a further investigation to the related agencies.
