TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno decided to give break to schools in Jakarta during 2018 Asian Games, which would take place on August 18 until September 2. However, a student's parent named Sriningsih voiced an objection.
“If [the school] closed, how are the teaching-learning activities?” Sriningsih told Tempo on Tuesday night, April 10.

Sandiaga announced the decision following talks with Inasgoc chief Erick Tohir. In the meeting, Erick also asked the Jakarta government to temporarily dismiss school hours in certain areas.
In addition, Jakarta Education Agency chief Sopan Adrianto decided he would halt all teaching-learning activities during the Asian Games 2018.
Sriningsih argued the school days off during 2018 Asian Games will hamper the implementation of the prepared curriculum, although she admitted her son in the third grade of Junior High School would be excited about it. Sriningsih suggested students could be assigned to encourage the athletes on weekend.
