TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gibran Rakabuming Raka speaks up when his father President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was accused of proudly showing the picture of Indonesia splitting on the customized denim jacket he wore.
The jacket is illustrated with a map of Indonesia and worn by Jokowi during the tour with his chopper bike in Sukabumi on Sunday, April 8.
Gibran said he was upset to see the uploader was viral on Instagram. "I was upset when I saw the posts by @sr23_official and @imaging.tv about the jacket worn [to go] to Sukabumi,” said Gibran via his Instagram account @chillipari, on Monday, April 9.
He explained that he was not upset because they disrespected Jokowi, but because the two accounts were considered insulting the work of the nation's children. “They have insulted the hard work of @nevertoolavish. It is a local brand,” he said.
Gibran said @nevertoolavish is the jacket manufacturer who needs to be appreciated. He would not mind the haters of Jokowi and allowed the #2019GantiPresiden campaign. “But do not insult the work of my friend,” he said.
Gibran asked @nevertoolavish to provide an explanation about the image of the map of Indonesia on the jacket. “Let the haters know the meaning of the pictures on this jacket,” he said.
Previously, @sr23_official uploaded the image of Jokowi on the cover of a newspaper wearing the denim jacket with the map of Indonesia illustrated horizontally on the chest part. The map was "split" into two because the jacket was unbuttoned. In the photo, @sr23_official wrote 'The Meaning of Picture: Jokowi proudly shows Indonesia split'.
Meanwhile, @nevertoolavish said Jokowi's denim jacket is custom-made with hand-painted done their team. The concept represents the diversity of Indonesian culture, they said.
