TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api [PT INKA] has completed constructing two of the eight train sets for the Light Rapid Transit [LRT] Palembang. The two train sets will be sent to Palembang in April.
PT INKA’s senior manager secretary for public relations and CSR, Cholik Mochamad Zam Zam, said he was still awaiting orders to send the train sets to Palembang.
“We have readied two LRT train sets. We are still waiting for orders to send them to Palembang,” he said on Thursday, April 5, 2018.

Bambang Haryo Soekartono, a lawmaker of the House’s Commission V overseeing transportation and communication, meanwhile, expressed hopes that the remaining six train sets could be completed soon.
“They should be finished this April. I hope INKA is up for this, because the train sets must commence operation this August for the Asian Games,” he said during a work visit to PT INKA in Madiun, East Java, on Thursday.
Bambang also asked state-owned railway operator PT KAI to inspect the necessary infrastructure for the LRT in Palembang to ensure seamless progress.
