Govt to Double Free of Charge Transports for Eid Homecoming

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation will double the number and capacity of buses, trains, and ships to be doubled on the 2018 free homecomingprogram, especially for the motorcyclists. The move is expected to reduce people's desire to use the motorcycles for the homecoming.

“Because we double the number (of bus, train, and ship)," said the Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on Thursday, April 5.

Minister Budi said, on the 2018 Eid homecoming period, from Jakarta to Surabaya will be connected by the toll road. “It is already connected, although in some segments in Central Java and East Java there is still to be functional,” he said.

With the toll road, the public’s preference to use the highway is very high, said Minister Budi. “So, our relevance to organize the homecoming time is very reasonable. We also advise, besides the early homecoming time, using the southern route is also quite interesting, as well as using the ship,” he said.

Minister Budi said, on the 2018 Eid homecoming, his office will create posts in the Ministry of Transportation. “There are also posts in the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) and in every important city points, such as in Cirebon, Brebes, Tegal, and Pekalongan," he said.
