TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry`s land transportation director general Budi Setiyadi said that the two ride-hailing app companies, GoJek and Grab, have agreed to increase their online ojek tariff.
Furthermore, Budi said that the specific price increase will be determined after GoJek and Grab representatives discuss it with their partners or online ojek drivers.
“Both ride-hailing apps have agreed to adjust the tariff and the driver’s income. This is the main topic of discussion between company management and their drivers,” said Budi on Thursday, April 5.

The decision was taken following the meetings held on Wednesday and previously in March at the presidential staff’s office.
Other than ride-hailing app representatives including GoJek and Grab, the organization that attended the meeting were representatives of the Transportation Ministry’s land transportation director general, Ministry of Manpower, the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI), and the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU).
Deswin Nur as KPPU representative said that the meeting between ride-hailing app companies, such as GoJek and Grab, intentionally avoided discussing tariff. Deswin argues that the Law dictates that two competing business entities are not allowed to set a price or tariff together since it is considered to be a violation of ethics of business competition.
