TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has revoked 13 business permits of Umrah service agency [PPIU] since 2015. According to the ministry’s information center head Matsuki, currently, there are 906 registered PPIU.
“People can check those 906 legal agencies via the ministry’s data,” said Mastuki when contacted on Tuesday, March 3.
The 13 agencies that had been shut down due to violating the law are PT. Kopindo Swasta, PT. Ronalditya, PT. Mustaqbal Lima, PT. Mediterrania Travel in 2015. In 2016 there were PT. Hikmah Sakti Perdana, PT. Diva Sakinah, and PT. Timur Sarana Tour & Travel. In 2017 were PT. Biro Perjalanan Wisata Al-Utswaniyah Tours and PT. First Anugerah Karya Wisata. Meanwhile, in 2018 included PT. Mustaqbal Wisata Prima, PT. Solusi Balad Lumampah, PT. Amanah Bersama Umat, and PT. Interculture Tourindo.

Mastuki stated the most common violation was related to the service. For instances, the customer did not give the service they signed to, did not provide a proper Umrah guide, bad transportation, airlines that required several transits, and unfeasible lodging or hotel.
Throughout 2015 to 2017, there were 8 permits of PPIU that had not been extended based on the accreditation, included PT. Gema Arofah, PT. Maccadina, PT. Huli Saqdah, and PT. Catur Daya Utama in 2015. In 2016 were PT. Maulana, PT. Assuryaniyah Cipta Prima, and PT. Wisata Pesona Nugraha, and in 2017 was PT Hodhod Azza Amira Wisata.
Meanwhile, there were five permits that had not been extended based on the observation reports in 2017, namely PT. Erni Pancarajati, PT. Habab Al Hannaya Tour & Travel, PT. Raudah Kharisma Wisata, PT. Assyifa Mandiri Wisata, and PT. Al-Maha Tour & Travel.
Mastuki stated people could report an issue to the police if they find an illegal agency that still serving Umrah service. A legal PPIU that violating the rule, he went on, will get a sanction from the Religious Affairs Ministry starting from a written warning, license suspension, and permit revocation, as stipulated in Government Decree No. 79/2012 chapter 67.
