TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - There is another way to enjoy Hong Kong besides going to the shopping area there. “Last March, Hong Kong held Hong Kong Arts Month”, said Hong Kong Tourism Board Public Relations Manager Daphne Hi when met at Morrissey Hotel, Jl. Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 2. The art festival is routinely held every year.

It was held to attract the attention of millennial tourists. Because, according to data from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, 86 percent of millennial tourists are interested to witness cultural performances, including art.

Hong Kong Arts Month is held in all the crowded spots. Tourists see the works of local artists and world artists, displayed in the form of paintings, photographs, or other.

Hong Kong Arts Month Festival is not just located in one place. The galleries displaying works of art are scattered in a number of areas, for example, at the Hong Kong Convention Center. The venue is held by Art Basel exhibition which begins on March 29 and ends on 31 March.

In Art Basel, visitors can watch the international art exhibitions featuring 248 famous galleries from 32 countries and regions of the world. Interestingly, there are two Indonesian galleries, namely Nadi Gallery and ROH Project. Indonesian artists were also involved, such as Indiguerilas, Entang Wiharso, and Eddie Hara.

Besides, there is an Art Central exhibition at the Central Harbourfront Event Space. The artworks are exhibited on 27 March to 1 April. It featured the latest installation art. Tourists can follow the panel discussion held simultaneously. Again, the works of Indonesian artist Entang Wiharso were also featured on the agenda.

At the momentum of the festival, tourists can see the paintings scattered in various parts of the Hong Kong city, in the walls of high buildings up the narrow alleys. Visitors also watch the contemporary dances that represent the local culture.
