TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT KAI operation area VI Yogyakarta will provide six additional trains to serve the 2018 Eid mass-exodus.
“The additional trains namely KA Taksaka, Argo Dwipangga, Argolawu, Lodaya, and Mataram Premium will be operated,” said the deputy director of KAI Yogyakarta Ida Hidayati in Solo, Monday, April 2.
She stated as many as 393 trains will be operated. The number increased by 4 percent compared to the previous year.

Ida further explained that for regular trains, passenger able to book the ticket starting D-90. While during the homecoming, the ticket can be purchased 60 days prior to the departure time. “The ticket is available for June 5-26, 2018,” she added.
The regular trains could serve 11,000 passengers per day, Ida went on, but with the additional trains, it is expected to increase by 9,400 passengers per day. “We have predicted the peak will be on D-2,” she said.
Furthermore, KAI Yogyakarta also provides free transportation during Eid day 2018 which is KA Jaka Tingkir with the capacity up to 600 passengers.
“The free train program is suggested by the government which then PT KAI supply the fleet. Through this program, people will be able to get a free train ticket and even free motorcycle,” Ida stated.
