Saracen Leader Jasriadi Gets 2-Year Prison Sentence for Hacking

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Pekanbaru District Attorney demanded a two-year sentence for the boss of the hate speech spreader group Saracen Jasriadi.
“To sentence the criminal charges against the defendant Jasriadi for two years minus the period of detention and ordering the defendant to remain in custody," said Sukatmini before a panel of judges chaired by Judge Asep Koswara, accompanied by Judge Martin Ginting and Riska in Pekanbaru District Court on Monday 26 March.
In his claim read out at the Pekanbaru District Court, Sukatmini said the defendant proved to violate the right of electronic media access pursuant to Article 46 (1) of Article 30 (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 19 of 2016 on Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 About Information and Electronic Transactions.
The prosecutor assessed the act of the defendant proved to be harmful to others for spreading hate speech through social media.
The prosecutor also assessed the case which relieved the charges against Jasriadi the defendant, had never been convicted and polite during the trial.
On the demand, Jasriadi declared the defense (pledoi) which scheduled at the trial next week.
Although Saracen is referred to as a hate speech group, the prosecutor only applies illegal access articles or hacking of social media accounts.
Jasriadi, 32, was charged with hacking Sri Rahayu Ningsih’s Facebook account, Saracen Coordinator West Java Province on August 5, 2017.
The account was then seized by the police. He got the keys from Sri and changed the keywords and recovered the account's email.
Furthermore, the account was linked by Jasriadi to a number of people. His objective was to find out information about Sri's arrest by the police.
In the modified account, Jasriadi created a number of statuses. Among them, "Is there justice in this country" and "One dies, thousand grows".
Jasriadi was arrested at Jl. Kasah, Pekanbaru, August 8, 2017. Previously, the police also arrested a number of people allegedly involved in the Saracen Group. They were Harsono, who was also arrested in Pekanbaru, and Rahayu Ningsih and Faizal Tonong.
