TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has yet decided Setya Novanto appeal to be justice collaborator in the procurement of electronic ID card (e-KTP) graft case.
KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah stated KPK is still considering the request. “Even though we have known the defendant did not willing to admit his crime freely,” said Febri through Twitter official accounts of KPK, Monday, March 26.
Febri stated if the request is granted, the prosecutors' demand could be revised. “But, if it is declined, Setya Novanto will face maximum sentence,” he said.
In the official account of Twitter, KPK explained that justice collaborator or JC is a person serving a criminal sentence or a defendant who willing to work with law enforcement to openly provide truthful information of the involvements of other alleged suspects in his crime.
Setya Novanto’s lawyer, Firman Wijaya, handed over the decision to the law. However, Firman claimed his client has fully required being JC. “Setya Novanto has asked for it five times and based on the law it is legal,” Firman said.
