TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As per Saturday, March 24, Pertamina has officially raised the price of one of its RON-90 fuel variant, Pertalite.
The state-owned energy company said that the new price of Pertalite is Rp7,800/liter for the Java Island market, which is a Rp200 increase from its previous selling price.
Other Indonesian regions such as Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra will have the same selling price as in the Java Island.
Meanwhile, other Sumatran regions, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua will see Pertalite sold at Rp8,000 and an additional Rp150 for Riau and Riau Islands.
Pertamina’s MOR I unit manager communications and public affairs Rudi Arifianto confirmed the price increase on Sunday, “The cause of the price increase is because of the global oil price and Rupiah’s exchange rate,” he said.
He further explained that the oil is a global energy commodity where its prices are heavily influenced by the global market. “If oil prices go down and the exchange rate strengthens or at least stabilizes, Pertamina would definitely drop the price of Pertilite accordingly,” said Rudi.
