TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that he is confident in tackling entertainment spots that run prostitution, gambling, and narcotics businesses after issuing Governor`s Decree No. 38/2018.
According to Anies Baswedan, the introduction of the decree reflects the administration’s assertiveness and its ability to immediately revoke business permits of night entertainment venues that are proven to violate the rules.

The latest decree is powerful enough that sanctions can be handed following reports from people in general or mass-media reporting.
“That is what differs this regulation with the previous one,” said the Jakarta Governor at City Hall on Tuesday, March 20. “The previous one does not have teeth, this one does.”

Anies denied that the new rule opens the possibility of potential mischief and explained that the public and mass media currently hold a major role since their complaints and reports are accommodated by the government.
The complaint will have to go through a process that turned into a police investigation report (BAP) to avoid any potential abuse.
Governor Anies Baswedan explained that the BAP will be done by Jakarta administration’s civil servant investigators (PPNS).
