TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential spokesperson Johan Budi Sapto Pribowo said that the government is not against criticism and mentioned President Jokowi`s normal response to accusations of him deceiving people through the land certificate program.

“The president’s response is normal,” said Johan at the presidential palace complex today, March 20.

Earlier, the coordinating minister of maritime affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan addressed this issue angrily when he gave a speech in a seminar on maritime affairs at the supreme audit agency (BPK) headquarters.

Without specifically mentioned the person he was referring to, Luhut warned that he would reveal their 'sins' of the person that often accuse President Jokowi with irrational criticism.

A day before Luhut’s speech, National Mandate Party (PAN) Chairman Amien Rais accused Jokowi of being deceitful towards the people by distributing land certificates.

Johan Budi said that Luhut’s statement does not refer to a specific person and was reluctant to provide further comment on Luhut’s warning. “I read his comment and he did not mention any specific name. You can ask Luhut himself on the person who he is referring to,” said Johan Budi.

However, Johan maintained that he did not understand what drove Amien Rais to release such statement because both President Jokowi and VP Jusuf Kalla have long introduced the land certificate allocation program to avoid land disputes.
