TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia men's doubles pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo won the 2018 All England title.
In the final round which took place early on Monday 19 March, they defeated the double Denmark Mathias Boe / Carsten Mogensen with the score 21-18 and 21-17.
The victory made Marcus / Kevin defend the All England title they won last year. Both save the pride of Indonesia by winning one title this year.
In the other match, the surprise came from the mixed doubles that brought Yuta Watanabe / Arisa Higashino (Japan) and Zheng Siwei / Huang Yaqiong (China).
The 48th-ranked Japanese pair defeated the Chinese duet in the 14th world position and topping the five tournaments, in a battle of three games for an endless 62 minutes 15-21, 22-20, 21-16. The 2018 All England title, for Watanabe / Higashino, is their first title in 2018.
In the men's singles, Lin Dan (China), who was eyeing his seventh All England title, was forced to surrender by his junior Shi Yuqi in an interminable three-game 75-minute match, 21-19, 16-21, 21-9. For Shi, it is the first All England title in his career.
In the women's singles, Taiwanese representative Tai Tzu Ying defended the title she won in 2017, she defeated Akane Yamaguchi (Japan) in a 45 minutes interminable match, 22-20, 21-13.
For the women's doubles, the Danish pair, Christina Pedersen / Kamilla Rytter Juhl, claimed their first title at the All England after overthrowing Japan's Yuki Fukushina / Sayaka Hirota, 21-19, 21-18.
