TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Waskita Karya temporarily suspended the construction of the Simple Flats Rental (Rusunawa) project in Pasar Rumput, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. A woman named Tarminah (53) was killed by a falling iron pipe on Sunday morning.
"We will review further until the condition is safe, then we will continue (the work project)," said Project Head of Rusunawa Pasar Rumput PT Waskita Karya, I Made Aribawadana, in a press conference in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday, March 18.
Made claimed he could not explain the chronological details related to the incident. Therefore, the contractor is still conducting in-depth investigation and evaluation. "Cannot be estimated when will it finish," Made said.
Pasar Rumput Flats was built since the era of the former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok. At the time, Turminah was shopping for vegetables at Pasar Rumput.
Based on the witness testimony, Tarminah was killed after her head was hit by a long hollow iron pipe, 3 meters 4x4 centimeters long that fell from the tenth floor.
After the incident, said Made, the project contractor has tightened the security at the site.
"Waskita is conducting an investigation on the cause of the fall of the hollow iron size 4 x 4 centimeters," said Head of Division I of Waskita Karya, IGN Joko Herwanto. Furthermore, Joko said, the termination is done to conduct a thorough evaluation, in order to know the improvement that needs to be done.
