2 Golkar Politicians to be Witnesses For Setya Novanto

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The defendant of the e-KTP corruption case Setya Novanto will undergo a follow-up trial again today with the agenda of witness relieves examination.

"There will be three witness facts and one expert, two witnesses from the party," said Setya Novanto’s lawyer Maqdir Ismail when contacted on Monday, March 19.

Two witnesses from the party that will be presented are Golkar politicians, namely Freddy Latumahina and Melki Laka Lena. In addition, Setya's attorney team will present the Head of DPR Expertise Agency Johson Rajagukguk and administrative law expert from the University of Indonesia, Dian Pudji Simatupang.

Setya Novanto's lawyer team had previously presented another Golkar politician, Mahyudin, to the trial. He also attended as a witness relieves for Setya at the last week's trial.

Setya Novanto is allegedly has a role in passing the budget of the e-KTP project in DPR while he served as the Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in 2010. He was accused of receiving a flow of funds of US$ 7.3 million and causing the state losses of up to Rp2.3 trillion. Therefore, he was charged with violating Articles 2 and 3 of Law No. 31 on Corruption.
