TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Grand Commissioner Argo Yuwono reminded bank customers who fell victim to the recent card skimming fraud to immediately report to Bank Indonesia (BI).

“Bank Indonesia informed that people who became victim to the fraud should report immediately,” said Argo on Sunday, March 18. Customers are reminded to bring evidence that can corroborate their claims so that the bank can process a full refund.

Police recently arrested five members of the group that was responsible for the card skimming fraud in Yogyakarta and Bandung. The suspects consist of four foreign citizens from Hungary and Romania and one Indonesian citizen.

Previously reported, Adj. Comm. Rovan Richard Mahenu explained that the five suspects have worked as a criminal group and practiced card skimming fraud since July 2017.

“They assembled a card skimmer and other equipment for the crime. They then installed it in various ATMs throughout Bali, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Tangerang, dan Jakarta,” said Rovan Richard on Thursday.
