TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Spokesman Novel Bamukmin said that the mass-organization plans to hold a peaceful rally at the Tempo headquarters in West Palmerah Street, Jakarta on Friday, March 16.
“Yes, that is correct [we will stage a protest],” Novel Bamukmin confirmed to us via text message today.
According to Novel, FPI is driven to hold the peaceful rally after Tempo published a cartoon that pictured a man in a white robe sitting in front of a woman that was published in February 26th edition of the Tempo Magazine.

Novel perceived the man in a white robe as FPI leader Rizieq Shihab.
He explained that the FPI members will assemble at the Al-Ishlah Mosque in Petamburan, Central Jakarta before they head to Tempo HQ.
“The peaceful rally will be held after the Friday prayers,” said Novel.
However, Novel could not confirm yet regarding the number of participants that will participate in the rally. “Not yet, we have yet estimated the number of participants,” said Novel.
According to Novel Bamukmin, FPI demands an official clarification from Tempo regarding the cartoon mentioned above.
