Gatot Nurmantyo Not Invited at Tito Karnavian`s Award Event

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Military (TNI) General Gatot Nurmantyo was not seen at the highest three TNI awards ceremony granted to the Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian at the TNI Headquarter in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. All TNI officials presented during today's event, March 14, including the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.

“He (Gatot Nurmantyo) isn’t invited,” said TNI spokesman Maj. Gen. Sabrar Fadhilah when contacted Wednesday, March 14.

Sabrar had yet mentioned the reason Gatot did not call for the ceremony. However, he stated the retired general had recently celebrated his 58th birthday and will be pensioned in April.

Gatot Nurmantyo was the four-star TNI general who dropped his position as TNI Commander on December 8, 2017, which later President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) assigned TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto as his successor.

As previously reported, Tito Karnavian received the highest three TNI awards which were Bintang Kartika Eka Paksi Utama from TNI AD (Army), Bintang Jalasena Utama from TNI AL (Navy), and Bintang Swa Buana Paksa Utama from TNI AU (Airforce).

The honor was delivered by Army Chief of Staff General Mulyono, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Ade Supandi, and TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto respectively. Tito Karnavian was assessed for giving huge contribution for TNI development even he was not TNI officers.
