TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Senior investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan attended the summons of a special team established by the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM). The team is to accelerate the investigation of the attack against Novel. “We hope this step is good to support the police in revealing the facts," said Novel at Komnas HAM office on March 13.
Novel came with his three lawyers at around 13:50. He was examined until 21:00. The team examining Novel consisted of the Monitoring Team Chairman Sandrayati Moniaga, Komnas HAM Chairman Taufan Damanik, Komnas HAM Commissioner for Studies and Research Choirul Anam, and legal expert Bivitri Susanti.

Yati Andriani, Novel's lawyer, said Novel gave details to the examiner team. The information includes the chronology of the attack on April 11, 2017. In addition, as a KPK investigator, Novel also presented a number of cases that were currently being addressed. He also conveyed a number of suspicions that were likely to be the motive for the attack.
Sandrayati Moniaga earlier said the team would begin the investigation by collecting various documents and studying the monitoring of the previous team. The step is in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 39 of 1999 on Human Rights, particularly Article 89 regarding the implementation of monitoring functions and to encourage the handling of such cases to be resolved promptly.
Attacks on Novel Baswedan occurred on April 11, 2017. At that time he just finished dawn prayer at the mosque near his residence. Suddenly two unidentified people appeared riding a motorcycle. One of them threw acid water into Novel's face. As a result, Novel, the KPK investigator, his left eye was injured.
