PLN GISTET to Provide Enough Electricity During Asian Games

PLN guarantees power supply during Asian Games 2018

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned electricity company PLN officially introduced the 500 MVA extra high-voltage gas-insulated switchgear (GISTET) in Kembangan, West Jakarta.

“The inauguration of GISTET operation is our attempt to guarantee Jakarta’s electricity supply in facing the Asian Games 2018,” said Trino Erwin, General Manager of West Java’s PLN transmission on Monday, March 12.

By having one unit of 500/150 kilovolt GISTET inter-bus transformer (IBT) operable in Kembangan, PLN is able to save production costs by Rp3.7billion each day.

Trino explained that the Kembangan IBT 1 GISTET was first designed in August 2017 and continued its construction on September 2017, before it was fully-operable on March this year.

“The commercial operation date was based on a two-day observation,” said Trino. The West Java PLN is committed to improving the power supply in Jakarta and Banten especially at Asian Games 2018 venues.
