TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The North Sumatera chapter of the National Logistics Agency (Perum Bulog) has unloaded 10 thousand tons of imported rice from India from a ship docking at Belawan Port, Medan.

“The plan is to unload the imported rice from India on Friday (today) and it is scheduled to be completed in a week,” said North Sumatra Bulog head Benhur Ngkaimi in Medan, Friday, March 9.

Benhur said the rice had been examined by related agencies, including the Customs and Excise Office and Quarantine office prior to being unloaded.

With the arrival of the Indian rice, the total imported rice entering the province to date reaches 20 thousand tons. On February 24, North Sumatera also received 10 thousand tons of rice imported from Thailand. "With the arrival of the Indian rice, Bulog's rice stock in North Sumatera is even safer," Benhur said.

Rice stock in North Sumatera is said to be safe until Eid holidays or June 2018. North Sumatera Bulog's warehouse is also set to receive more imported and local rice thanks to its capacity of 80 thousand tons.
