TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bacteria can be found in various places. One of these highly spread microorganisms exists almost everywhere, including in the body. Naturally, bacteria have been stuck in the body since we are born.

Although some serve a useful purpose, too much bacteria will lead to some health problems. Bacteria not only live inside the body, such as in digestive tract, they also hide on many body surfaces.

1. Scalp

Itchy scalp is one of the sign that bacteria build its nest on your head skin. The scalp is naturally a moist and oily area so it is a suitable place for bacteria to live.

Propionibacterium and Staphylococcus are two common types of bacteria found in the scalp. According to research in China, the imbalance number of both bacteria is the cause of dandruff.

2. Body folds

On many body-folds such as in the neck, armpits, elbow crease, or feet folds, are a damp place which a lot of bacteria flocked. The common types of bacteria exist on those skin are Staphylococcus or Streptococcus.

Although the normal floral bacteria can protect the skin surface over bacterial infections, if both are in a high amount, they can cause itchy skin, especially in the folds.

3. Palm

The palm hand is a body part that often contacts the outside environment. Thus, various types of bacteria attached to the palm, particularly between the fingers.

People must be aware of the palm cleanliness because not all good bacteria lingered on the skin. If you get contaminated, a disease will arise. So always keep your hands clean, especially before eating.

4. Navel

According to Belly Button Biodiversity project in Northern California, USA, 1,400 different bacteria were found in the navel. Moreover, 662 of them are new species.

However, we do not need to worry too much as many of them are not pathogenic bacteria or harmful to the body. Simply, we need to clean the belly button regularly as to prevent stinky and moist surface.
