TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Twenty-three houses in North Bekasi sub-district were damaged by a tornado on Wednesday afternoon, March 7. Official says that most of these houses have their roofs wrecked.
The deputy of Bekasi’s Municipal Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Karsono, said on Thursday that most of the damages have been repaired by residents, with the help of the BPBD.

The tornado also injured residents who were either hit by building materials. “But none of them suffered heavy injuries,” Karsono said.
He advised residents to beware of the extreme weathers. In the last few days, Bekasi has seen heavy rains and strong wind that will likely to last over the next few days.
One of the victims and witnesses, Mak Dwi (55), said that at around 17:00 on Wednesday, a tornado struck her neighborhood when there was no rain. “House roofs were blown away by the very strong wind,” she said.
