TEMPO.CO, Bali - Bali`s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has once again achieved the award for best airport in 2017, under the category of passenger capacity of 15 to 25 million people per year, based on the service quality survey by a rating organization named Airport Council International.

"We are proud and grateful. This is a birthday gift that we can dedicate to Angkasa Pura I," General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, Yanus Suprayogi, stated in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday.

In addition to being awarded as the best airport for its capacity, the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was also ranked first for a total of 15 to 25 million passengers per year.

Suprayogi further noted that Bali Airport had also been ranked second as Asia Pacific`s best airport with passengers of over two million people per year.

In 2016 and 2015, Bali Airport was ranked third in the World Best Airports for both years, in the category of airports with 15 to 25 million passengers per year.

He stated that with the achievement of the award, the challenges of airport managers would become more in the future due to the increasing number of passengers as well as the diverse demand and passenger characteristics.

"But with good synergy across the airport community, we are optimistic that we would be able to face these challenges better," he noted.

Since 2006, airport service quality had been surveyed by the Montreal-based agency, through passenger satisfaction assessment of the world`s airport services, he continued.

As many as 74 percent of the world`s top 100 busiest airports were part of the airport`s quality assessment network.

Each year, the program interviews 600 thousand users of airport services in 42 languages and in 84 countries worldwide.

The program measures opinions through 34 performance indicators, including airport access, check-in counters, security, shopping and restaurant facilities, as well as toilets.

Survey questions and mechanisms are conducted equally at all airports to create an industry database that would allow each airport to compare themselves to other airports in the world.
