TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Education and Culture Ministry (Kemendikbud) re-implements the computer-based National Exam (UNBK) this year which scheduled to start in April 2018. Per March 6, 59,600 schools and 5,963,055 students have been registered.
However, Kemendikbud's Research and Development Agency head Totok Suprayitno said only two provinces are qualified to carry out UNBK for junior high school (SMP/MTs).
“For SMP/MTs grade, only Jakarta and Yogyakarta to be ‘a hundred percent’ ready for UNBK,” said Totok to Tempo, Tuesday, March 6.

According to Kemendikbud official website, as many as 540 SMP/MTs schools in Yogyakarta have been registered and 59,601 SMP/MTs schools in Jakarta.
Jakarta Education Agency deputy head Bowo Irianto claimed to be ready to apply UNBK completely this year. “We’ve prepared since the last year,” said Bowo.
Totok explained many schools could not apply UNBK since they had no computer facility. However, Kemendikbud helped to find a solution, such as doing facility sharing with other schools. “This is good among schools to further have a sharing culture,” he said.
While, for Senior High School (SMA/MA), 16 provinces claimed to be ready for UNBK, and 18 provinces for Vocational School (SMK).
UNBK SMP/MTs implementation will be held on April 23 to 26 and the UN supplementary on May 8 to 9. For UNBK SMK on April 2 to 5, followed by UNBK SMA/MA on April 9 to 12 and the supplementary will be on April 17 to 18.
