TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An exhibition dubbed Indonesia Craft Batik Gift Show (ICBGS) will be held at Hall A Jakarta Convention Center on March 7-15. This is a shopping heaven for Indonesian handicrafts and souvenirs lovers.
Tourism Ministry Event Team Tazbir said ICBGS 2018 will feature batik products and handicrafts from all over Indonesia. "We hoped this event will be a shopping paradise for Indonesian crafts lovers," he said in Jakarta, Thursday, March 1.
The batik exhibition event is a momentum to socialize and preserve batik as world cultural heritage, recognized by UNESCO. This event also became one of the attractions for tourists to shop.
Tazbir explained that batik, craft, and gift exhibition have an important role in increasing the Indonesia creative economy at the global level. Currently, Indonesia is ranked at 34th in the world, according to World Economic Forum (WEF).
Event organizer Mistindo Connexion spokesperson Budi Sukat Swito said ICBGS 2018 is an integrated exhibition of previous creative events such as; Adiwasta, Katumbiri, and Islamic Fashion and Products.
The 2nd ICBGS event is themed 'Through Craft, Batik, and Gift Show 2018, We Improve Creativity and Productivity in a Global Competition'.
The exhibition, according to Budi, has received support from various parties such as Bekraf, Tourism Ministry, SOE Ministry, Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry, Trade Ministry, entrepreneurs and craftsmen, sponsors, media, and communities, and especially the lovers and users of Indonesian craft, batik, and gift.
ICBGS 2018 will feature various craft, batik, and gift products from Indonesia in 200 exhibition booths. During the event, fashion shows, talk shows, costume and hair competition, workshops, beauty class make up by Wardah, as well as musical performances will enliven the expo.
Visitors are free to join ICBGS 2018 which will be opened from 10:00 am until 21:00 pm.
