TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indomobil Group, Volvo brand holder agent in Indonesia, handed B11R bus to PT Steady Safe Tbk as the first customer, to support Jakarta Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). The delivery ceremony was held at the special automotive commercial vehicle exhibition, GAIKINDO Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo or GIICOMVEC 2018 on March 1-4, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, South Jakarta.
Indonesia Country Director of Volvo Buses Himawan Dewoto Kunto said the integrated BRT offer from Volvo not only includes a comprehensive, high-flexibility vehicle portfolio to fit all system designs but also financing solutions, aftermarket support and service contracts.
“In addition, technical training, as well as drivers, telematics, advice, expertise, and others, depend on the needs of each consumer wherever they are,” he explained. Volvo is in the completion to deliver 122 B11R units by the end of March.
Volvo has been a leader in the BRT development since the first system was built in the late 1970s. Currently, Volvo Bus operates on BRT systems in more than 20 countries and transport more than 12 million passengers daily. Volvo also offers a BRT solution such as a 28-meter bi-articulated bus capable of carrying about 300 passengers.
The B11R features a 6x2 axle shaft with full air suspension, 370 HP engine, and six-speed fully automatic gearbox mounted and fitted with retarder and adjusted to the official Volvo BRT body works. The configuration is known locally as a Maxibus and can accommodate up to 90 passengers along the special bus line in Jakarta.
