Sri Mulyani Comments on Perry Warjiyo`s Candidacy as BI Governor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Perry Warjiyo is the sole candidate for the Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor for the period of 2018-2022 which proposed by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
President Jokowi considers Perry's comprehension is unquestionable as he believes that Perry understands the monetary issues, inflation, and various policies of the central bank.
“He is the most senior deputy,” said President Jokowi after inaugurating a raw material of medicine factory in Cikarang, West Java, Tuesday, February 27.
According to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Perry is someone who has a lot of experience.

“Perry is a figure from Bank Indonesia. He also once served as the IMF executive director,” said Sri Mulyani Indrawati when asked to respond about Perry’s candidacy as BI governor in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 27.
Currently, Perry Warjiyo serves as BI Deputy Governor. He will replace Agus Martowardojo who will be terminated in May. Sri Mulyani said that Perry has been served as a deputy governor for 1 term.
She added that in the midst of dynamic economic condition in the national and global, the relationship between Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) must always be supportive and maintain a good relationship.
Sri Mulyani hopes that the experience and good relationship can improve the national economic performance.
