TEMPO.CO, Pangkalanbun - Hunting for sunset is a must while enjoying a holiday in Pangkalanbun, Central Kalimantan. Pangkalanbun is famous for its best spots to catch the sunset.

The city has a complete landscape of its coastal, hilly area, historical city, and river flow that looks stunning. You can photograph the sunset with various backgrounds such as rural life or reflection of wooden boats that pass along River Buun.

1. Kampung Pelangi (Rainbow Village)

This place real name is Kampung Sega. This village is located in Mendawai regency, right in the heart of Pangkalan Bun City, 5 kilometers away from Pancasila roundabout.

Sega is named as a rainbow village since the houses along Buun River covered in colored stripes suits for a photo area.

In the afternoon, young people from the surrounding villages arrive. They are busy photographing the colorful villages, also posing among walls which various cartoon characters painted attractively.

Wooden boats pass along Buun River around Kampung Pelangi. The boat riders were pacing back and forth across the river.

The sunset on the edge of River Buun rises a reflection on the boat. The reddish sky makes the colors unified and give a majestic view. This spot is photographers favorite.

2. Dermaga Kumai (Kumai Pier)

Kumai Bay and Sekonyer River are the two landscapes presented by God for you hanging out at the edge of Kumai Pier. This pier is the main traffic stream of a wooden boat that takes tourists to Tanjung Putting National Park.

In the afternoon, dozens of boats lean along the pier. The crew activities cleaning the boats give a panoramic view of life.

The sunset is visible from across the pier. Its yellow shine makes the brown bay seem to have a golden hue.

Kumai Pier is 10 kilometers from Pancasila Roundabout, the center of Pangkalan Bun City. The travel time is approximately 16 minutes drive.

3. Istana Kuning (The Yellow Palace)

The palace is the residence of Sultan Kutaringin, the only kingdom in Central Kalimantan. The palace still stands, with buildings made of ironwood.

Located in the middle of Pangkalan Bun City, the palace is 4 kilometers away from Pancasila Roundabout.

The Yellow Palace offers a sensation of historical travel in West Kotawaringin district. Tourists can learn the origin of Kesultanan Kotaringin from a number of historical heritage.

The Yellow Palace is on Indra Kencana hill. From the top of the hill, tourist can see a 180-degree city view. It makes the Yellow Palace became one of the favorite spots for hunting sunset, in addition to historical tours.
