TEMPO.CO, Pontianak - Promotion and Culinary Week in the celebration of Cap Go Meh 2018 in Pontianak has started since yesterday, Sunday, February 25. The festival held at Jalan Diponegoro.
Cap Go Meh 2018 festival will last for a week until March 4 featuring various events. One of the events is Chinese cultural art performance. “This Chinese culinary and promotion is one of the ways to promote cultural art to the public,” said the Pontianak interim mayor Mahmudah at the opening of 2018 Pontianak Promotion and Culinary Week.
She hoped that the festival will encourage people to actively contribute to the economic sector for social welfare.
Heri Candra as the committee head said that the 2018 Cap Go Meh festival is different than the previous year as Chinese culinary enlivens the celebration. The goal, he added, is to enliven Lunar New Year and preserve Chinese culture which adopted in Indonesia.
“It’s (Cap Go Meh Festival) for nostalgia and culinary, as well as learning to appreciate different culture through food and beverage because every culture has its own value and identity,” Heri stated.
The Cap Go Meh festival is also festive with 75 stalls including culinary, electronic, automotive, non-gambling agility and entertainment. The main stage will also present a variety of entertainment and local arts.
