TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde the Tanah Abang Market in Central Jakarta today.

Accompanying them were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo, and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti.

During their visit to one of Jakarta’s well-known markets, Lagarde purchased a blue dress while the President bargained for the price.

The store owner Renata was excited knowing that President Jokowi, Lagarde, and Anies visited her store.

“She purchased a Rp75,000 worth of blues dress. Maybe that’s her favorite color,” Renata told Tempo.

Earlier today, before visiting Tanah Abang Market, Lagarde was at the Merdeka Palace with President Jokowi showing her excitement about his visit to Indonesia. Lagarde described Indonesia as a beautiful country where she can meet the people and enjoy the diverse culture. 

Lagarde said her visit to Indonesia was important since the country will host the upcoming annual IMF and World Bank conference in October 2018.
