TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry, SOE Ministry, and Transportation Ministry held a meeting following the workplace accident at Becakayu toll road project today, Feb. 20.

Earlier today at around 3 a.m., seven workers at the Becakayu toll road project were injured after a concrete beam that was being cast was still wet and caused the pier head segment to free-fall.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuldjono, accompanied by SEO Minister Rini Soemarno and Transportation Ministry Budi Karya Sumadi, stated two recommendations in the meeting. “First, we agreed to postpone the elevated toll road project,” said Basuki at a press conference in PUPR ministry building in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 20.

“Evaluation will be conducted by Indonesia Contractors Association chairman Budi Harto,” he added. The thorough evaluation includes project design, work methods, and Technical Operational Procedures (SOP), and the materials.

The second agreement is the evaluation of project safety that will be handed over to the technical advisor. “The project (Becakayu toll road) infrastructure is under SEO Ministry, so it is the SEO minister who will give the sanction,” Basuki stated.

Previously, PUPR Ministry's Health and Safety expert Sri Handono remarked that an internal investigation is still in process. "Now that the investigation is still underway, we have not drawn any conclusion yet."
