PUPR Minister: Repair Cost for GBK Stadium Reaches Up to Rp150mn

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said two objects were damaged after the Presidential Cup final at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) on Saturday, February 17, 2018.
"For the guardrails (acrylic segment), the damage I think is not too severe, there are seven guardrails and according to the management, the repair cost can reach up to Rp150 million," said Basuki during the inspection to GBK Stadium, Jakarta, Monday, February 19.

In addition, parks around GBK were also damaged due to trampling by the supporters. According to Basuki of a total of 4.8 hectares of existing parks, about 80 percent were damaged. He stated that it takes 10 days for the construction process.
Basuki regretted the incident as the newly renovated stadium development needs a long process and large funds to be used for the Asian Games 18th anniversary, in August 2018.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno previously requested Persija supporter team, Jakmania to sanction members who damage GBK Main Stadium facility. "I requested those caught on CCTV to be distributed to the public and give particular sanctions," he said at Jakarta City Hall on Sunday, February 18.
