TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri and Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Prabowo Subianto reminded the General Elections Commission (KPU) to hold the 2019 election fairly.
“KPU can carry out their duties with neutral, independently, and certainly see the democratic process run as well as possible,” Megawati said after the serial number selection of the participating political parties in the 2019 election, Jakarta, Sunday, February 18.
In the same place, Prabowo believes that democracy is the best political system for Indonesia. Democracy is manifested in an election ballot box, he said.
“We realize, on KPU, lies a noble and heavy task, so we ask God to give KPU the inner and outer strength,” he said.
Besides Megawati and Prabowo, the KPU gave time to the leaders of other political parties to deliver the speech after getting the serial number for the 2019 election. Not all political parties chairmen were present on the occasion, such as Democratic Party (Demokrat) Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Chairman of NasDem Surya Party Paloh, they were not present.
