Sandiaga Uno to Install 60,000 CCTV in Preventing Sexual Abuse

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno announced that he would install CCTV circuits in some regions prone to sexual harassment in outskirt area of the capital.

“We want to install 60,000 CCTV in every region in Jakarta,” said Sandiaga Uno, in Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Wednesday, February 14.

According to Sandiaga, the installment target right now is around 10 percents. The goal of this program, he says, is to make Jakarta safe. “We want Jakarta to be a safe city; not only a smart [city],” he explained.

The CCTV installments, which will be done gradually, might be in the form of cooperation between provincial government and the private businesses. “We could cooperate with some utility, communications as well as mobility spots from digital business,” Sandiaga said.

The program in preventing sexual abuse will be pushed by the provincial government. Sandiaga Uno also claimed that the concept of the program is in the partnership form the between government and business sectors by involving the residents. “So it can be achieved within five years,” said the Jakarta Deputy Governor.
