Queen Maxima Monitors Financial Inclusion Program in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visits Indonesia to monitor the process of Financial Inclusion Program. In her visit this time, Queen Maxima represents the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.
Based on the press release, Queen Maxima visited Indonesia from February 11-13. The last time Queen Maxima visited Indonesia was in August 2016, “she will monitor the process of Financial Inclusion Program in Indonesia which was inaugurated in 2016,” as quoted from the official press released on Tuesday, February 13.

The Financial Inclusion Program is government’s effort to improve the access to financial services; banking, credit, insurance and pension fund. The government targets the financial access penetration will be as much as 75 percents from the total population of Indonesia in 2019.
According to The World Bank, the financial access is actually contributing a big portion in the economic and social development of a country. It can reduce the poverty rate in the nation. Indonesia is the third country in Asia she visited after China and South Korea in February 2018.
During her visit, Queen Maxima visited President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the State Palace. Besides, Queen Maxima will also have a discussion with Gojek, one of the technology companies in Indonesia.
