TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Kotawaringin Regency of Central Kalimantan targets to open the biggest nature park Kebun Raya Sampit in 2020.
"In 2018, we are still doing the arrangements, in 2019 we will open spots that are complete and in 2020 we will officially launch the park.We are preparing the roads first," East Kotawaringin Environmental Agency head H. Sanggul Lumban Gaol said in Sampit on Friday (9/2).
Sanggul explained that this year regional government spent funds from Rp1 to Rp2 billion. The regional administration involves private companies to help build Sampit Nature Park.
Currently nine private companies are involved in building 17 kilometer roads in the park spending around Rp10 billion. The construction of the roads has reached 80 percent of completion. A wood company is also involved in providing seedlings for a wide variety of native Kalimantan woods.
Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) has also lent support early on and they have built biodiversity park using state budget. LIPI also employs their team to help with this project.
