TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - RTV Journalist Sandy Syafiek died in a hit and run while he was riding his bicycle on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, on Saturday morning, Feb. 10.
RTV reporter Sherly said that the accident happened while Sandy was cycling with his friends at around 6:20 a.m. on Jalan Gatot Subroto Street, across from LIPI building.
"Witness at the scene testified that a black Range Rover was seen without being able to identify the plate number, but turned out it was Dodge Journey which resembles a Range Rover. The witness made such a mistake since the car was at high speed," Sherly explained.
The car that hit Sandy is black with plate number B 2765 SBM. Sandy who was at the time cycling at the back row of the group has a concussion that caused a brain hemorrhage. He was immediately brought to Jakarta Hospital and pronounced dead at around 8:40 a.m.
His body was then brought to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) for an autopsy.
