10 Million Have no Access to Electricity: Energy Director General

TEMPO.CO, Takalar - The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) stated that around 10 million people still have no access to electricity.
"10 million people still use paraffin lamp or kerosene lamp, so the state has to provide electricity to regions still unreached by state-owned electricity company PT PLN," ESDM's energy conservation and renewable energy director general Rida Mulyana said in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi on Friday, Feb. 9.

While delivering Solar Power Generator (PLTS) including electricity access to 422 houses in Takalar to Takalar Administration, Rida Mulyana explained that the people who have not gained access to electricity are spread across 2,500 villages.
"ESDM Minister demanded that energy can be accessed by all Indonesian citizens with affordable price," he went on.
He continued that to reach areas having no access to electricity, ESDM has built 600 PLTS and more power sources will be built by using local resources.
