TEMPO.CO, Batam - Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) officers detained Singapore-flagged ship Sunrise Glori that carried around 1 ton of crystal methamphetamine in Philips Straight, close to Batam waters, Riau Islands.
In a press release relayed by Navy Public Relations and Media Service (Dispenal), it is stated that in Batam, on Saturday, Feb. 10, the TNI AL team found crystal amphetamine packed in 41 rice sacks weighing around 1,000 kg put on top of rice in food cargo.
Dispenal explained that on Wednesday at around 2 p.m. Navy’s ship (KRI) Siguror captured the ship Sunrise Glory in Philips Straight with the coordinates 01.08.722 U/103.48.022 T for passing out of traffic separation scheme (TSS) and entered Indonesian waters with Singapore flag.

During the inspection, the documents were indicated forged. The ship was later brought to Batu Ampar Dock in Batam.
The next day at around 4 p.m., KRI handed the ship over to Batam Navy base (Lanal).
On Friday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. Sunrise Glory was taken to Lanal Batam dock, and the crew was investigated by the TNI AL team, Central National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Central and Batam Customs.
