Garuda Aims to Raise International Traffic by 20 percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airline Garuda Indonesia plans to increase its international passengers` target. President director Pahala Mansury said the company has bagged growth opportunities following the Five-Star Airline predicate awarded by Skytrax.
"We hope this achievement will increase traffic for our international routes,” he said at the Changi Exhibition Center in Singapore, Thursday, Feb 8.
Pahala projects Garuda can post more than 20-percent traffic increase in the international segment in 2018.

He said that the target is based on last year’s international routes’ traffic, which rose 13 percent. Additionally, Garuda recorded a growth passengers by 25 percent.
Garuda Indonesia nabbed another Five-Star Airline predicate from Skytrax, which is the third time for the flag-carrier. Meanwhile, Garuda’s low-cost carrier subsidiary Citilink Indonesia obtained its first Four-Star Airline for the LCC category.
The next thing on Garuda Indonesia’s agenda is to adjust air tariff in a bid to boost performances. Pahala said that airfares need to be adjusted considering the current increases in oil prices in international markets.
