TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During their third-day visit in West Sumatera, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First lady Iriana is scheduled to attend the 2018 National Press Day commemoration in Cimpago Lake, Padang.
“From Terindah village, the President and his wife will directly head to the 2018 National Press Day commemoration,” said the Presidential Palace media bureau head Bey Machmudin.
The president plans to conduct his Friday prayers at West Sumatra’s Grand Mosque before he hands out land certificates and pay a visit to the Padang State University (UNP).
“Before his return to Jakarta, the president will also attend the phase-one Padang-Pekanbaru toll road groundbreaking,” said Bey.
President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana have been at West Sumatra since Wednesday evening to check on the cash-for-work program and hand out Indonesia Smart Card and land certificates.
On Thursday, February 8, Jokowi visited the house of Djamaluddin Adinegoro, who is a national journalist figure. He also called on the public to remember Adinegoro’s services towards the press world.
President Jokowi also supports the construction of an Adinegoro Museum, which he hopes can benefit the development of journalism and the world of literature.
