TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The divorce trial of Former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and his wife Veronica Tan will be held without any form of mediation. Ahok is currently sentenced to two-years imprisonment for blasphemy.
The panel of Judges decided to do so after Veronica Tan submitted an affidavit stating that she has not appointed a lawyer and wishes to leave everything to the judges to make a ruling.

“This is the reason why the panel of judges decided to continue the hearing without any mediation process,” said Jootje Sampaleng, North Jakarta District Court Spokesman on Wednesday, February 7.
Veronica tan sent two written statements through Ahok’s lawyer Fifi Lety Indra, who’s also Ahok’s sister-in-law. Veronica Tan was not present in both hearings that were previously held on Wednesday, January 31, and Wednesday, February 7.
Fifi stated that Veronica’s letter leaves the divorce process completely on the Judges’ ruling. “Bu Vero handed it all to the judges’ discretion,” said Fifi on Wednesday.
