TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and People's Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono today will review a number of infrastructure projects in West Sumatra. One of the projects that will be reviewed with President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is the Padang-Pekanbaru toll road project.
"Minister Basuki is scheduled to accompany President Joko Widodo to conduct the toll road's groundbreaking ceremony," the ministry released a statement on Thursday, February 8.
The Padang-Pekanbaru toll road extends for 254,800 kilometers. It is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road and is one of the national strategic projects listed in Presidential Regulation No.58/2017.
In a written statement last Tuesday, Basuki said the construction phase could start immediately once the project obtains residents' and local public figures' approval for the land acquisition.
The Ministry in 2018 has budgeted Rp11.2 trillion for the construction and maintenance of infrastructure. Its implementation has started since early January 2018 in several locations in Java and Sumatra.
